A Techweb article talks about how although a staggering number of companies have licensed Windows CE from Microsoft for use in appliances of all sorts, it is not being rolled out on a large scale. The article notes that many of these companies are using CE as a a hedge, but that they are investing in other technologies. Windows CE has yet to prove itself in many applications.
Microsoft is calling the first Windows 98 bug fix a "multimedia update" instead of "service pack". This battle of the euphamisms is and attempt to hide the fact that their much-hyped incremental upgrade contains bugs.
is reporting that Sun Microsostems will be making Solaris 2.6 for Intel and Sparc free for non-commercial and educational use.
