Oracle announced that its third quarter sales were up 28% to $1.75 billion. The company attributed this to successful competition with Microsoft. Read more in the New York Times.

National Public Radio had an interesting report on an upcoming suit concerning the responsibility of Internet Service Providers to check the content of their sites. America Online and an Internet columnist are being sued for libel by Presidential adviser Sidney Blumenthal after Matt Drudge, who is paid for his on-line gossip column, quoted "an unnamed GOP source" saying that Blumenthal had committed spousal abuse and that the Clinton Administration had covered up the incident. Druge (who later retracted the allegation) and AOL are being sued for $30 million. Find out more on Real Audio.
