Jim Barksdale, CEO of Netscape, penned a good article about open source software, and Netcape's decision to release Communicator to the hounds. Once again, the parallel to Linux is made.

Tim O'Reilly, President and CEO of O'Reilly & Associates, has organized a "summit" for open source software producers on April 7, in Palo Alto, CA. Developers of software such as Bind, Sendmail, Perl, Apache, Mozilla, and Linux will meet to discuss how better to develop and promote these core technologies.
